What To Do on Anegada

Take the 7:00 am ferry out to Anegada and get ready to experience one of the most unique islands in the BVI. It’s a flat island, made entirely from coral. The water is the most incredible turquoise and stays shallow far from shore.

Hire a flats boat and guide to take you out for some bonefishing. Your guide will site the fish for you – you just keep casting. And when you get one on the line, you’ll find out why they’re called the Pit bulls of the Sea! They’re fighters, and when you finally land one, you throw it back! (After the pictures, of course.) Bonefish are not good eating.

You’ll be hungry and thirsty, so head back to shore and take a taxi out to one of the beach bars. You can relax without breaking from the magic of the water. Try the local lobster or conch. A couple of Red Stripes and you’re refreshed and ready for something else.

If sunbathing sounds good right now, head over to Pomato Point. This is one of the most beautiful beaches in the BVI, with 180? views of blue ocean and sand so fine it feels like baby powder.

Or if you want to get back out on the water, board one of the big trawlers and head way out for some deep sea fishing. Marlin, grouper, permit – they’re out there. Strap yourself into the Fighting Chair and get ready to work. Your crew will guide and encourage you, but when you bring in that prize marlin, you’ll know it was your skill (and sweat) that did it.

Have dinner on the beach at the Anegada Reef Hotel. Dine on what is arguably the best lobster in the world (they call them “spineys”) and watch the sun go down on a perfect BVI day.
