Virgin Gorda student wins Junior Minister of Tourism Competition

Tortola, British Virgin Islands, June 15, 2016 – J’Nique Williams, an 11th grade student at Bregado Flax Educational Centre is the new Junior Minister of Tourism.

In a competition held on Saturday, June 11 in the Eileene Parsons Auditorium at H. Lavity Stoutt Community College, Williams secured first place while grade 11 student Jada David of Elmore Stoutt High School landed 1st Runner Up, and Kiara Rhymer of Seventh Day Adventist School garnered 2nd Runner Up.

“The BVI Tourist Board congratulates the students who participated in this year’s Junior Minister of Tourism competition, which is one of the most exciting events held in support of tourism education. Each year the students show their acumen for tourism and hospitality, and the winner has a number of diverse opportunities throughout the year to build on this

platform that include travelling to another country to compete against junior ministers from other Caribbean islands and public speaking opportunities within the BVI,” said Tourist Board Training Coordinator Natalie Penn.”

Williams will proceed to the regional competition in Barbados this September in addition to attending events and ceremonies throughout the year with members of the BVI Tourist Board.
